Tom “Chef” Stoner grew up in a household that reached out to people in need. He remembers as a child helping his grandfather, who ran a catering business, load up a carload of food every holiday to share with the local orphanage.
“It was the way I was brought up — just the way you do things,” he says.
Today, as the founder of Spoons, Soup, Salad & Sandwiches, Tom has built that culture of giving into the core values of the company. At Spoons, we constantly work hard to improve our local community.
Every day, we support the community by using as many local ingredients as possible for the fantastic soups, salads and sandwiches on our daily menus. In the summer, you just might see the Spoons staff at Fossil Creek Farms picking veggies themselves to add to our soups and salads.
Through our cooperative efforts with The Food Bank For Larimer County, we have established a fantastic Stone Soup program, from which all profits benefit needy families of Larimer County. Local farms donate excess produce that we combine into our delicious and ever-changing Stone Soup, which we sell at the farmers market to raise money for people in need.
Every Christmas Eve, Spoons serves up a scrumptious dinner for homeless people.
Spoons is a member of the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association. Each year, we take pride in participating in events such as The Taste, The Taste of Fort Collins, Great Plates and Homegrown Fort Collins.
We are also constantly working hard to become as environmentally conscious as possible. We are working with our distributors and our waste program to implement a variety of green ideas, with the ultimate goal of running a 100 percent compostable and recyclable business.
Spoons gives back wherever we can. Because a healthy community connection and environment is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle, too.
