We're local too! And we love our FoCo Community.
Our History
Our story starts in 2002, when chef Tom Stoner had the idea to open a soup shop using fresh, local ingredients.
Tom began building partnerships with local farmers, ranchers, businesses, and nonprofits like the Food Bank for Larimer County. His goal was to serve, help build, and feed the community he loved and called home.
Tom opened the doors in Spring 2003 at the Northern Hotel in Old Town.
Community Efforts
Working with the Food Bank for Larimer County, we established the Stone Soup program, a community effort to help families in need. Sold at the Farmer’s Market, Stone Soup is a delicious, ever-changing soup made from ingredients donated by local farms.
Christmas Eve dinners for the homeless include wholesome, fresh soups and our homemade focaccia bread.
We’re a member of the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Business Association, Visit Fort Collins and the Campus West Merchant Association.
We’re active in community events like:
- Empty Bowls
- Great Plates
- Homegrown Fort Collins
- Habitat for Humanity Hammer ‘n Ale

GREEN EFFORTS
For the last several years, we’ve been working toward becoming an environmentally conscious establishment, partnering with distributors and waste programs to implement a variety of sustainable programs. Our new efforts have brought us:
- Dine-in Durables
- On-Campus Composting Efforts
- Recyclable to-go containers through The Bottle Box and Eco-Products
OUR GOALS
Our goal is to bring fast, fresh, and friendly service to the people of Fort Collins. We support local farms and ranches by purchasing as much produce, proteins, beverages, and breads as we can to create original recipes we think you’ll love.
Our community goal is a bit more personal. Growing up in a household committed to helping people in need, Tom can remember a time when his grandfather would load up the car with food from his catering business and bring it to the local orphanage every holiday.
Since opening, we’ve been committed to bringing Tom’s grandfather’s spirit to life in our service and culture.
Why?
For Tom, finding ways to give back to the community is a simple choice. It’s how he grew up – helping people in need is just the right thing to do, and it’s best to start in your own community. We hope you’ll join us in our efforts to give back to our community.
